Free traffic to your site comes in the form of searchers finding your site in the search engines when they do a search and clicking on your link on the search results page - SERP. To get found in the search engines and place high in the SERP - top ten - you need to be good at two things - writing search engine optimized and relevant content and getting links to your site from other site owners.
Writing search engine optimized and relevant content is an ongoing process. Once you begin to publish articles or relevant content on your site users will want to come back to see what you have written next. They will want to come back because they found that you wrote about something relevant to what they were looking for. Your job, if you are serious about making money online with your website is to continue publishing relevant content.
Publishing relevant content isn't the only thing you need to be worried about. Next you will need to make sure that the page that you publish is optimized so that it has a chance to be found when someone does a search related to the content that you wrote and published. There are varying degrees of search engine optimization. Now, I haven't seen anywhere on the internet that suggest levels of optimization - this is just a theory of mine. In my searching over the years, and even more now because I know what I'm looking for now, I have seen a lot of sites that are just not set up properly to be found by the search engines. Find Keywords The People Are Searching For
You win the game of being found on the internet by doing the same thing to your webpages on your site over and over and over. There are the things that you need to do:
- Pick a keyword that has a higher KEI - Keyword Effectiveness Index.
- Put this keyword in the title of the page. Put this keyword in the H1 of your page.
- Put this keyword in the description of your page. And put this keyword in the first one or two paragraphs of content on your page.
- Then create the theme of this page around that keyword. All too often web pages will have too many themes going on on any singe one page.
There are many other things to manage with search engine optimization and if you start now you can read and read for months and not read everything. Fortunately so much of it is the same just said in a different way by the next person. Probably just as this article is resaying something that 100's of other folks have said.
